4 Reasons Why I Choose Squarespace

On the day that I changed my homepage to prioritize web design over dance, I received my first hater-mail. I had just installed my Honeybook contact form and a person used it to tell me I wasn’t a real web designer. In all of my years in the dance world, I had never received anything of the sort! This complete stranger threatened to use the weight of his resources to “expose” me as a “fraud.”

After I got over the shock of it, I started smiling, even laughing to myself. I had made it! I was beginning to make enough noise in a new-to-me industry for someone to feel nervous.

I wasn’t scared. I had reason to celebrate a new level of success!

The main reason that I was accused of not being a real designer is because I use Squarespace.
(insert eyeroll)

Personally, I like to think of Squarespace like Apple. Wordpress and other platforms are like Android. They all work but everyone has their reasons for preferring one over the other.

I use Squarespace because I love it! I specialize in sites for creatives, entrepreneurs, and small business owners. Squarespace is a great fit for these groups! Lately, I’ve also been working with many ministries and non-profit organizations.

When I’ve completed your website, you have a site that YOU can maintain. This is a money saver that is hard to ignore! Although some still choose to hire me for regular maintenance, they know that they are capable of making simple updates on their own.

Reason #1: Squarespace has an elegant foundation.

Though I strip apart a template in order to rebuild with my own design, the bones and components available on Squarespace are elegant and modern. For me, there is no reason to re-invent the wheel.

Reason #2: It doesn’t rely on plugins.

Squarespace is built with the functions that my clients need. A site that relies on plugins (Wordpress) can leave you vulnerable to hackers.

Reason #3: Everything you need is in one place.

Hosting, security, and domain can all be taken care of in one purchase.

Reason #4: Squarespace Circle and Forum

Squarespace offers great resources through Squarespace Circle Forum and Answers Forum. These tools help me to stay up on the latest innovations that the platform has to offer. As a Circle member, my clients are eligible for a 20% discount on their site fees for the first year.

I began using Squarespace in 2013 to create an online presence as a dance choreographer. I’ve since built sites for other dancers and dance schools, authors, speakers, ministries, and small businesses. I would love to build a site for you on Squarespace!

If you’re not in need of a website today, would you keep me in mind for the future? You can stay in touch with me by joining my mailing list!

If you know someone in need of a designer, please share. I like to keep my dance card full!
