How to Stay Motivated in Business

Wondering how to stay motivated in your business. Read this story

Shonna Hickman Matlock (Mama Shonna to us) was my Artistic Director at Dayton Contemporary Dance Company II. She saw the potential in each of us and worked daily to help us realize it. During my first season, she gave each dancer a letter for Christmas. I still have mine and I reread it from time to time.

Curious to know what was in it? :)

I’ll give you the highlights:

“You have more than you realize…I wish for you this Dance Christmas to not be afraid to know excellence…Dare to see what your body can do…Remember to bring the eye of the tiger with you in 20...”

Like many of you, I can be a confident person, a leader, a go getter. And like you, I can forget not only to dream big, but that many of my dreams are more like goals. Those goals are within my grasp. Now. Today.

To stay hungry, bring the eye of the tiger.

For me right now this means…

  • Meeting the challenges and enjoying the process

  • “Showing up and showing out” instead of playing safe

  • Imagining the best possible outcome and going for it.

What does the eye of the tiger mean for you and how can you apply it to your business?

Write down 3 ways that you can bring it and focus on those for the rest of this month. How will it change your approach?
